Pancreas Health Program Staff
Areli Nunez, Pancreas Health Program Coordinator
Areli has been with Winthrop-University Hospital since 2008 and has been the Pancreas Health Program and Endocrine Surgery Program coordinator since 2012. In her role as coordinator, she takes part in virtually every aspect of the practice’s functioning, from working with the clinical staff to training the administrative and support team.
Areli has been instrumental in the program’s development along with developing patient service protocols and recruiting new staff. She regularly coordinates, supervises and participates in our program’s community outreach and fundraising efforts.
During her time at our program she has been a part of amazing strides forward in the care of pancreatic cancer patients. Most gratifying has been seeing new developments in the surgical treatment of once inoperative pancreatic cancers.
Barbara Moskowitz, NP
Barbara has worked with Winthrop Surgical Associates in various capacities since 2004. Today, as our nurse practitioner, she focuses on surgical oncology, coordinating the pre-op and post-op care of the patients at our program. Virtually all of our patients will have Barbara as one of their primary points of contact. Whether spearheading patient education, reviewing results of labs and other diagnostics or participating in clinical studies and trials, Barbara is an integral part of both the Pancreas Health Program and Endocrine Surgery Program here at WSA.
Barbara is a Certified Nurse Practitioner in Adult Health, an Adult Nurse Practitioner and a Registered Professional Nurse.
Christine Guarnieri, MSN, RN-BC, OCN
Christine supervises and supports the nurse navigator staff at our program. She also works with our patients from diagnosis through care and aftercare, ensuring that testing, treatment and follow up are all coordinated and performed in a timely, efficient and convenient manner for. By offering compassionate support for patients and their families, while also facilitating care with our multi-disciplinary team, Christine is at the front lines of the fight against pancreatic cancer, arm-in-arm with our patients.
Christine holds both a Bachelor and Master of Science in nursing and is dedicated to the advancement of our program while supporting our patients and their families by both learning and educating every day. Beyond pancreatic cancer, Christine specializes in colorectal, Gastrointestinal and Head and Neck cancers.
